SC143 challenge

I made this card for todays challenge on SCS. I dont know what I think of the colors now. I was originally going to have the flower be clear embossed, but I didnt like the look so I embossed a new one with platnium. I sponged the main image with some bashful blue and then Mellow Moss and the edges with brilliance platnium, it made for a much darker looking card. I was thinking the base should be different color, maybe Basic Grey now, but I dont have any on hand. I dont know. I used my cuttlebug and Bloomin Dots folder to emboss the background and then sponged with Mellow Moss. I layerd some scraps from the PC decorative paper I used on the Scrapbook pages for the previous post, and then layered the light blue and Mellow Moss for matting. I used my Bits and Pieces wheel to add some Mellow Moss on the Whisper white Background. The brads come from a Creative Imagination antique metal collection, I figure they are either Pewter or Nickle. I embossed using Utee extra thick Platnium embossing Powder.

What do you think? I am not sure what I think it might need a tag but I'm undecided today.

Scrapbook Pages

I decided to do some scrapbook pages, actually a friend asked me if I wanted to swap pages for scrapbooks and I said sure, I need a little motivation to help me get things done.

These are the three pages I did today. I will have to do Scrapbooking a little bit more.

I got the decorative paper in a RAK box for the halloween page. I used SU Boolgie Eyes stamps, and some googlie eyes my DD bought me for Mothers Day.

The "Happy Halloween" is cut using my Zoobaloo Cartridge on my Cricut at 1 1/4 ". This was a fun page to make. Its the one I am going to swap. I used Basic Black ,Pumpkin Pie, a discontinued purple from SU, The lighter green from the Michaels variety package called Botanicals, and Whisper White. I colored the images with my water color pencils and an H2O painter after stamping with Stazon Jet Black. The ribbon and the Taglet stickers were clearance from last Halloween, and the bat button is JesseJames buttons. The brads are Queen co, making waves. I used my 3/4 circle punch to trim the black cardstock I stuck the taglets on and then punched 1/16th punch inthe center for the brad. Iused my SU tag punches for the spider image & matting, and my CM Sqaure punch the large opening to cut the images out and then mounted on the cardstock and trimmed to about 1/8".

The next page I used my "Walk In My Garden" cart and cut the cone flower out of Pumkin Pie. And the center a Textured light blue cardstock from a package I cant remembered where I got it. The tag is from the designer paper set mentioned later. I used a lightblue grosgrain ribbon and a large orange striped brad I picked up at Target on the tag. I covered the tag whenI took the picture. I need to remember to take pictures before I put them in the album and journal.

I added a section for journaling that my DD can do when she gets back home. I like the Decorative Paper (PC superslab rob and bob studio) it was a christmas gift my DD's recieved from their Aunt, and they reluctantly let me use it, but they know they use my stuff so I think it all evens out.

The last page uses the same decorative paper and some Stickers form the same package. I cut the same textured cardstock with my CM square punches and trimmed it to make the picture corners. I hid the journalling but it is matted with some complimentary DP from the same set mentioned earlier.

I used Whisper white to mat the pictures and for journaling I drew straight lines lightly with a pencil and used my SU Brocade Blue marker to write with. Then I used a white polymer eraser to erase all the pencil lines. I love the white erasers, they are a life saver.

Falling Leaves SC142

Tonight I finished up my SC142 challenge card.

I have been so busy, my son had a Birthday yesterday and today I ran errands, but tonight I found some time to stamp and I made a stamping discovery... I don't have any pumkin stamps. I did my layout thinking Pumpkins. I always thought I had one. I used D'vine Swirl embossing folder thinking pumpkin vines. I used the background cardstock I got out of a RAK box. I dont know who made it. I thought it would great behind a Pumpkin, I love the embossed paisley's on it.

I stamped part of my bare fall trees. to blend with the leaves I punched out of Certainly Celery. I might have to borrow/buy a pumpkin stamp and try again. The other cardstocks used are an off white GP, and SU Chocolate Chip. I used Close to Cocoa for ink and sponged with it as well. I added a little color with my water color pencil. The ribbon is a dotted chocolate I picked up at Wal-Mart. For the faux stitching I used a"The UltimateGel Pen Pastel by American Crafts I picked it up at JoAnn's in a twin pack. I cant remember where I picked up the off white rivets. I think at All That Scraps. I hope you enjoy the card. I enjoyed making it.

A Note from Me

I really love creating things, and lately I've been giving a lot of thought to why I create and why I do what I do. After giving it a lot of thought. I started trying to figure out how something I love became such an obsession. I really don't know why it has. I've had to re evaluate why I do stuff and if I need to make changes. I have made a few changes on my Blog. I Blog because I enjoy sharing and giving and I felt it was away to give of myself. I enjoy sharing and reading your comments and suggestions. However lately I have been trying to figure out how my Hobby has become an obsession, and an obligation. One thing that contributed to it was the Stamping top 50. I wanted to be there, but I have learned that I think you have to be extremely talented and gifted or have a store where you sell stuff, to get there and I just do not have that kind of time for my hobby. Posting occasionally became I had to post everyday. Well I think you know where I am going. I removed all those links and buttons from my blog.

I just want you to come if you want to come. I want to share what I want to share. and Lastly I want to buy what I want to buy and not because I feel I need it to keep up with the Jones, KWIM. I know my skills will continue to improve the more I use them. I just want to share a part of me, with you and hope you like what I've done. I want my hobby to be my hobby again and not an obssession or burden. I just want to have fun. I want to go shopping and not feel obligated to go check out the latest and greatest, and always have that something NEW. I own a lot of stuff and I want to use it and not hoard it. I hope I have explained myself well. I hope you'll come and check my blog out because you want to. I hope we can become friends. I just need to feel like I am in control of my hobby and it's not in control of me. I left the feedblitz sign up on my blog, because I thought if you get tired of checking and seeing the same post it might be handy because it would send an email to let you know if I've posted. I think it saves time when I check out my favorite blogs.

Dancing Snowmen

My card was inspired by the second card on this post at Debbie Olson's blog Thinking Inking. I just love her blog I visit it every time I can.



I used my SU "Cold Play" set to try and duplicate the snowmen. I think I got close. What do you think? I like all the great stamps out there but my budget is limited. I got so excited yesterday that I had to go try doing a bird's eye view of a snowman right away before I fixed dinner. I think I took about a half hour to put the card front together. I should have used my Basic Black or Jet Black Ink but I grabbed my versamagic Midnight chalk ink. Because it was closer, and I was so excited. The same goes for the white ink Igrabbed my Dew drop brilliance Moonlight white when I should have dug out my craft white. I only had a little bit of time. I should change my blog title to the rushed stamper.



I used a baby blue from my assorted blues from Michaels for the Card front base. I rolled whirly twirly wheel with the embossing ink, then sprinkled Kaliedescop embossing powder for some shimmer. After heat setting it, I loved the look and decided to stamp the snowflake in white.

I stamped the snowmen next, the bodies were stamped using the smallest three circle from th eset on whisper white cardstock and then punched out with my SU 1 3/8" circle punch. The hat was made by stamping one of the coal buttons from the stamp set and then adding a rounded brim with my Basic Black marker. After I determined their location and stamped the arms like Debbie states in her post. I stamped the arms then placed the snowmen After I attached the red and whiter gingham ribbon. I adherred the snowmen and then drew the arms on the body to mid way on the second circle. Then I attached the three 1/4 " satin with glue dots and cut the fringe. I stamped the carrot noses in Pumpkin pie and then trimmed about an 1/8" off from the fat end and then stuck them to the bodies using my sakura glue pen. For the base I didn't have any Real Red Cardstock on hand so I sponged alot of REal Red Ink on a white base around the edge and then attache dthe card front.



Debbies card is goergeous. I think she has a little more time to stamp and a lot more patience. I know I need to work on it, but I still think this card turned out great. It would be better if I had taken more time but I only had about 45 min. Thanks Debbie for the great Idea.

SC 141 Finally

The SC142 challenge came out tonight.

Usually I work on Challenge cards right away when they are posted.

This last week was nuts. I finally managed to make a card last night. I am not sure what I think of it.

I was going to do red tulips with "Bothway Blossoms" , but decided I needed a fall flower so I picked daisy's instead. I stamped the daisy's and the "sweet" from "So Very", with Timber Brown StazOn. I sponged Ruby Red onthe back ground after sponging off a little on scrap paper to tone the color down. then I trimmed the corners using my ticket corner punch and then sponged with Close to Cocoa. The daisy's were colored with summer sun and Mellow moss and Old olive markers, then I used white liquid applique on the petals, just the smallest dab, and then spread it a bit with a thin scrap of paper and then put Kaliedescope embossing powder on it and heat set it. Then I dabbed the sponge on it without reinking it to tone down the white a bit. I matted this and the green embossed paper with Summer Sun. The strips were embossed after trimming, using the "friend" and "D'vine Swirl" cuttlebug embossing folders. They were matted and then sponged with Close to Cocoa. I tied an Autumn colored ribbon I picked up last fall at Joann's with a piece of True Thyme Stitched ribbon to the thin friend embossed strip. The base of the card was stamped with SU canvas background stamped off once with Summer Sun. then Stamped with Crosshatch in Old Olive. I sponged the edges and between where the pieces would lay, lightly with Close to Cocoa. The red gem stones come from the HoHoHo words I bought at Target a few weeks ago. I felt I needed to add a bit more red to go with the ribbon. It was a toss up between faux stitching and the bling. I added the bling because of my finger. It was quicker, and I had banged it right on the stitches once already.(Ouch)

It is hurting a little more now because I am cutting back on the meds.

Bonus Sketch Challenge Card

I have been wanting to use my Cricut since I got back from vacation. SO I instantly thought of using it for making the card for the sketch challenge Round Bonus. Who wants to cut out all those circle by hand. I hope I can get through the typing I took some extra pictures of the assembly. Pictures are worth a thousand words and my finger is a bit swollen because I made both my challenge cards today.

I used my Cricut "George" cart to cut out the flowers in Whisper White at 5" in Shadow and a 2" circle. In Basic Black I cutusing the silhouette setting a 2" circle and a 5" flower, and a 1" circle shadow. I also cut a 1" circle in summer sun. I love using George to cut focal foundations, etc.. Next I used my "Walk In My Garden Cart" to cut two large leafs in shadow Blackout, one Leaf#1 and 1 leaf #2, so I could over lap and have the extra cut out for height. After using my cricut I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the leaves with "D'vine Swirl" and the flower center with "Bubbles". I also marked the silhouette on the white with light pencil marks at this time.
I cut a short piece of Black and White gingham and used my double hole punch to punch holes through the 1" circles. I lined them up and used my paper piercer to keep them lined up in the punch. I also sponged the Brilliance Midnight black over the bubbles embossing on the flower. After getting everything lined up I threaded the ribbon through the yellow through the center on the flower through the black circle and then back through the flower and the yellow. I was going to shadow with the black circle but the flower was big enough so I just used it to anchor the ribbon so it didn't have to go through the base or be mounted on a glue dot. This is how it looked before adherring it to the white base.

I stamped the flower image from SU Little flowers set in Summer Sun between the markings over lapping making sure not to get past the seond mark. after stamping I used a white Polymer eraser to erase the pencil marks, and then mounted it on the base. The last thing I worked on was the leaves . I over lapped them using 1/16" dimensionals then I determined where I wanted the leaves to be and trimmed them. I sponged the card base , the 2" white circle snd the leaves to accent their dimension and to mute the contrast between the white and black a bit.I trimmed them more after I placed the Brads to get the width down to 5 1/2" and sponged them a little more after using the antique brass brads to attach the leaves and the card fron tto the card back.

Lastly I assembled the Circle with "giggle" from the Warm Words stampset. I used my Sakura gel pen to glue the thin shadow over the circle. Then I punched one yellow flower using my under used "three for you" punch. I adhered it using an 1/16th circle punch and yet one more antuqie brass brad. I like how it turned out. The only thing I would change is cut the flower at 4" so it could fit in an envelope.

Wedding Giftcard

This morning my DH aske dme if I had a wedding card. Guess what stacks of cards and not one wedding one to be found. He gets amazed by that sometimes. SO I went to work sore finger and all.

I made this simple wedding giftcard. I was going to tie a big bow on the front but after the third try with my finger I just decided to tie a loose knot.

I used SU retired "Fairytale Wedding". I bought the set because it was retiring and I needed to have the diamond ring(wink). I stamped the flowers and embossed them with the kalidescope embossing powder. The shimmer shows up better if you click and enlarge the picture.

I used SU Lovely lilac ink to stamp the two sentiments and the flowers on the envelope. I also used my briliance dewdrop "Moonlight White" to add some shimmer and contrast to the scalloped edge of the card and tag. The scallop was cut with my scallopped scissors.

The rings and the cake were stamped with StazOn "Jet Black", then colored with my various color pencils. I also used my Sakura clear Stardust pen on the diamond to add some bling. I hope you can see that if you enlarge the picture.

I still need to find a Michaels coupon to pick up some Prisma Colored Pencils, before my Birthday. I cut out the rings freehand and punched a 1/4" circle in the center to tie them on. Part of the rings would have been punched out if I used a 1/2" punch. Has anyone ever seen a 3/8"punch? I also cut a dimensional in half and mounted the rings on them; to help separate them and give them some pop. I liked how they turned out. I used a 1/2" Lavender Organza to tie on the rings and a 3/4" white Organza to tie the cake tag on. I was going to put the rings on the outside on the knot for the tag but decided they hid to much of the cake and the inside looked too blank, so I moved them there.

Gratitude

Today I just needed to make a post of the beautiful ThankYou card I recieved from Jill.

She won my blog candy from August. It was so neat of her to send this card to me and it has given me an idea for a Birthday card I have been working on. She used the scrollwork from "Noteworthy" & the flowers and saying from "Best Blossoms".I think she used WhisperWhite, CameoCoral, Old Olive and Basic Black. The white flowers are clear embossed on the white and then the ink was sponged over the flowers. I think she used a singlo gel pen to add some white over the top of the White and then a black marker to add the Black centers. The flap covers the nice message she wrote me on one half of othe card and the edge is folded over and punched with an 1/8" circle punch,and tied with the small stitched black ribbon.

Doesn't it just make you think of Apple blossoms. It is a very beautiful card and I appreciate it.I hope you enjoy it also.

Hello

Well things with my finger are going really well, but I miss it when I am typing!

I have chosen two swap cards to share I hope you enjoy them.

The first was made by Cindy Haffner, I received it in a Bella swap I did. I just love the detail she adds to all her cards. Her Gallery is definately a source I browse through when I am looking for inspiration for a card. She used her cuttlebug for this card for the die cuts and the A2 embossing. Dont you just love it!

The next card I received from the Brand Spankin New Swap. I have lost the recipe with the makers name.

She used Garden Whimsey stamp Set. I love the colors she used and the simplicity of the card. I think the colors are Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal and Lovely Lilac.

Cards For Fun

I decided not to post the cards I made for my swap next Tuesday.
To save time I just made copies of the green leaf card I made for VSN, and used the Think Happy Thoughts, again, but switched to the "Thanks so Much" instead of "Friendship".

I am off to the doctor now, so I will post some swap cards.

Info You might want to know

I may or may not make a post tomorrow. It is getting late and I am trying to get things done. I am having a small surgery done on my finger tip around 10. I dont think I will be posting for a few days, unless my finger is in less pain after the surgery than it is now. I think it will need a few days of recovery. Luckily it is on my left hand. If I get my cards done tonight I will make a post before I leave in the morning. The next few days I have some swaps to share, but I will only hen peck a bit of words out so I hope you'll understand.

OSW Cards

I am very busy finishing up the power point I am working on, so I have very little time. I did take a 2 hour break and made some cards. Today I went to my SU demo's and in less than an hour and a half we made four cards using Mary Brown's One Sheet Wonder Post. This is the ultimate casing project. You can see if you look that we weren't really original in our choice of colors or designs, we basically stuck to her plan. These are really simple quick cards that can be used as Sketch LO for several stamp sets and Designer paper. I will leave it to you to go to the link and get the details she list the sizes of paper the pattern for cutting etc. I will mention that the Stamp Set is SU"Simply Said" The only substitution we did was use the new Basic Grey instead of Black. Now go have fun with your package of 6x6 designer paper. Let me know what you think.

extra post today for a GREAT BUY

Well they are scheaduling an outage for tonight and I am very busy so I will not be posting tonight. I am working on a power point for my girls camp. I have two days left to finish, yeah!Ihave 13 slide's in all and about 250 pictures, I need to finish inserting the pictures(on the last 2 slides) and then add the music I need to get it finished and make 15-18 copies. I need to have it all finished by Wed evening. When I am through with this I dont have to worry about camp until March.

GREAT BUY

I also found a great Buy for stamps at Target today. They have small packages of Autumn Leaves clear stamps for 1.99$ I was going to post a picture but I cant find my Camera :0, I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

They had either 2 large stamps or eight small stamps in them, they were so cute I bought 4 different sets. They had others but I had some of those stamps already in my larger sets. the three flower one I used during VSN is in a 2 set package. I bought 1 to split and send with some RAKs I am working on, since I know someone who loves Ladybugs!

last of the VSN cards I made

I made two more cards for VSN on Saturday and I liked how they turned out. The first one uses the same two step leaf stamp. The challenge asked you to use the same stamp for the background as for the focal image. Since I had just used these stamps, and VSN has you hoping fast to get the cards done, I decided to use the leaf out line. I also chose to finally use my "Think Happy Thoughts" SU set. All the images were stamped in Timber Brown StazOn. I then used my generals watercolor pencils to outline the leaf and then, my fine tip aqua painter to draw the color to the center. I used a brown pencil to shade under the leaf and then spread the shadow with the aqua painter. The hardest part of this card was punching the circles out in the exact centers on both the brown and the off white cardstock. I am a little offbut when a card only takes 35 minute(Whew) from start to finish being a little off is okay.

The gingham Offray ribbon is a Brown and Offwhite I found at walmart on a mini spool. I matted with Chocolate Chip and the green is Old Olive. I liked how this card turned out.

My second card I called Dirty Daisy! The challenge was to get dirty. I was pretty tired when I stamped this card and the only thing I wanted to do was use my Big Flowers stamp set I hadn't used yet. I got them the beginning of August right before Vacation. Because I knew I needed to get dirty I embossed the image on the Summer Sun Cardstock I stamped with Versa Mark and then used clear embossing powder. After heat setting, I wrinkled the paper and sponged with Chocolate Chip Ink. I decided I needed more contrast so I stamped the small flowers image in Basic Black. I stamped the main image with Versa mark and embossed with Black embossing powder on Off white Cardstock. I used off white so I wouldnt have to sponge the flower too much with Chocolate chip. I sponged Summer Son Ink for the color of the flower and then I used a 1 1/4" circle punch to trim the flower, (a tight fight). I trimmed out the triangles and then I matted with Basic Black and used my 1 3/8" circle punch. I sponged the edges lightly with Close to Cocoa and Choclate chip. The flower was mounted on Dimensionals. I used a piece of scrap Old Olive Card stock cut into pieces to make the stem and leaves, I thought of adding a faux stitch but I ran out of time on the card. I stamped the Paper Salon "Thinking of You", with Versa Mark , on Summer Sun cardstock and then embossed it in Black. I punched it out and matted it, using my SU Tag Punches. Notice it was punched at an angle. I then sponged it with Chocolate Chip. I punched 2 1/8" holes right next to each other so I could slide the tag over the knot on the Black and White Gingham ribbon.

I think these cards turned out cute. My first experience at VSN was great and I hope to do it again. It was not as stressful as I thought it would be...

VSN again

It took me two hours to get back on to Splitcoast. I dont know what happened! Didn't seem any one else was having a problem. Oh well I was able to make three more cards but it is late and I want to get a new post done so I am just going to post one of the cards. I will post the other two on Monday.

This Challenge asked you to use the colors in Harvest Mix Candy. I used Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, and Old Olive. I have this old two step leaf stamp set I got years ago when I first started stamping from Wal-mart. I dont even know who made the set but I love t for fall leaves. TO start off I stamped the solid leaf on the Pumkin Pie Cardstock with versa mark. Then I stamped the out line with Timber Brown Stazon. Then I ran it through my Cuttle bug using the bubbles Embossing Folder. Next I stamped the "grateful" from my SU Small Script stamp set. and matted it with Chocolate Chip. Next I used my paper piercer mat to mark holes for the 3 green Making Memories tropical brads. I punched the Old olive and Summer sun circles using my large SU circle punches. I punched the tree using my Marvy punch in Chocolate Chip. I used a Brown dotted & orange organza ribbon and a 1/8" green grosgrain. as an accent. I like the way this card turned out. The ribbon shows up much better in Real life, but doesnt everything. I hope you like it.

More VSN

Tonight after getting my Computer chair recovered. I went on splitcoast and did a VSN challenge. Right now I am waiting for the computer to post another challenge. I think something went wrong, because none of my usual threads are loading. It might be very busy over there.

This first card was for Challenge "M" for short. It was a card for someone you miss or is leaving. I made it for my DD#1 who moved out a little over a week ago. We are all missing her alot. I chose not to ink the center stamp and then stamped it separately, to put by the thinking of you. I also stuck to Summer Sun and black and white except for the Ruby Red flower that represents her.

I think I made this card in about 35 min. Very quick for me I usually deliberate my cards a lot longer. I used My Autumn Leaves; Swirls vol:1 and Flowers, and SU Sincere Salutations to make this card. I used Versa Magic Midnight Black* to stamp with. I colored the flowers with my Old olive, Summer Sun, and Ruby Red markers. I used one MM tropical brad for the center of the Ruby Red flower. I punched the flower out with my EK 3/4" & 1" circle punches, and then mounted it on a few 1/16" thick dimensionals. The black and White gingham ribbon is Offray that I picked up at Wal-mart.

*I went to look up the exact color of black ink... I was so proud of my self having everything picked up making a card so quick... a little too quick because I cannot find my black teardrop I used to stamp the card.... Oh well! If I happen to get logged on to split coast again and update the color if I come across it.

VSN at splitcoast

Tonight I did a few cards with VSN on Splitcoast. It was fun. I had to work a little fast than I like, so my cards may not have been my best work but it was fun to be challenged.

My first card was a a baby card. I had fun making this. I looked around and decided I wanted to use the purple and green ribbon and I went from there. I chose a purple color from a Assorted purple pack I got at Michaels and a lime green leftover from the camp stuff this summer.

I used Elegant Eggplant ink and Versa magic lime green spot. I used my SU tag punches to make the tag. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the purple background. I colored with my various colored pencils and I used my Prismacolor colorless blender pencil to blend the colors together.

I was a little late getting it in but it took a while for me to find the post so I didnt even start it until after it had been posted for 20 min.

My second card is not the best but it was fun to try to come up with an idea. I decided to use my favorite candy bar as inspiration, a Heath bar, brown with red lettering.

I noticed after posting I should have used a Hershey bar just because of all the word pieces. I brayered Real Red ink on to the "friend" word using a rectangle window to mask the card. I punched two holes using my 1/8th inch circle punch and tied the dotted ribbon with a snipet of Cranberry Crisp. I decided to mat the brown with Cranberry Crisp also. I also added one of those red gems form the hohoho stickers to do the "i". I smudged a little bit when I tried to touch up the "f" and "d". I should have left well enough alone but decided it needed more red so I tried sponging the letters and added a little too much. Oh well, I was in a hurry to post it with in the hour.

I had a fun evening playing with my stuff. I hope you enjoyed stamping a little also...

Little Baby Blue

I just found out my DH's cousin had a baby boy in August. I decided to give a try at the SC140 challenge to make a card. I think it turned out nice. I used a light blue from an Assortment pack of blue cardstock I picked up at Michaels. I used my Brilliance Dewdrop in "Moonlight White" for Ink. The card base is Whisper White, which I also used to mat all the blue layers.



I used the A2 Embossing folder Baby Words and Baby Announcement to emboss the background and square. I purchased mine both from ALL THAT SCRAPS. When I embossed the square I shifted the paper so the words would be placed on the left and eliminated the Image. I used an EK corner rounder to round the corners on the square and my Singlo white gel pen from SU to add dots around the edge. I used zip glue strips to strategically place the 1/8" white satin ribbon between the embossed words.

Next I cut the bookplate at 1" using Fabulous Finds in my cricut. The blue is cut as blackout and the white is cut as shadow. Then while the Cricut was out I cut the square and scallopped square with my Mini Monograms cartridge at 2". I stamped "Welcome" from SU Warm Words stampset and "baby" from a 2006 SU SAB set Noteworthy in white and then poured clear embossing powder and then Kalidescope embossing powder over the top then heat set it. I am sorry but the flash made this hard to see I hope the insert photo helps. The Bazzill white brads I picked up at All That Scraps. I used the retired SU

stamp set "Welcome Little One" and stamped just the head portion on the blue square. Then I mounted it to the Scalloped white square. I used my SU Paper Piercer Mat Pack to line up the dots in the corners and marked them before punching them out with my 1/16" circle punch. I dont know if my card really fulfills the SC140 sketch challenge, since my two squares got a little large, but I like how it turned out.

Tweak #2

Today I finished up tweaking the second card I started on Tues. Just wanted to share it with you its simple. I used an Autumn Leaves Flower stamp single I picked up at Archivers.

The cork tiles and the ribbon from Targets dollar section. The flower was stamped and I used marker on the outer edges and for the center, Barely Banana and Perfect Plum. I added extra color with my generals water color pencils in purple, and I used a souffle pen in white to accent. The white is not as noticeable In Real Life. I used a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock and stamped the flower image with bleach. I mounted it all on a Basic Brown Cardstock I picked up at Michaels. Just a simple card. Peaceful Night Card

I should call it Peaceful night #1, because I am sure I will try this design again but a little different. The tweaking helped a little but now I think I might need to add more shimmer to the background snowflakes. The cuttlebug tag is quite small so I printed the letters myself. I might make a new tag using my computer to print it and then cut it out with the Cuttlebug.

The Home image is a Cuttlebug "Winter" Jelly 2" Embossing folder and the "Snowflakes" A2 embossing folder was used for the black background. I brayered white craft ink on the black background. After it was dry I used my teardrop Moonlight White to brayer it because it was too opaque. I smudged it a bit on the second Brayering, I guess I tempted fate trying to do it more than once. Using a Brayer worked really well. my problem is I have only have a two " wide brayer and I need to invest in larger one. After cutting a small round tag with my Cuttlebug die my initial thought was to print "Silent Night" on the tag. I decided "Peaceful Night" might be more appropriate, but I settled on "Happy Holidays" becasue I knew I could print it to fit. I used a SU Real Red marker to print the sentiment. I used Whisper White cardstock and a Black from a Michaels package. The red is from a textured cardstock I picked up ages ago. The ribbon is Offray from Wal-mart, I love Red & white gingham on Christmas cards. I used my Cricut to cut the red circle, with my Mini Monograms cartridge, to mat the main image. I used a white gel pen to add fauw stitching. I know this still is not my best work but I can tell you the creative juices are starting to flow and I am looking forward to making more cards. I am also starting to get things caught up so I can have more time to play with my stuff.

Swap Cards

Today I finally got in my craft room and I cleaned it up enough to play a bit. I dont like the results on the two cards I made so I am opting to tweak them a bit more tomorrow. Hopefully they'll get better. I thought I would share a few cards from the other swap I recieved back recently the Mourning Marigold and Mixed Bouquet swap. All the cards used the Retiring incolor07 Morning Marigold and the retiring Mixed Bouquet Stamp set.





The swap hostess was Lindsay(Chaikitty) on SCS and she threw in an extra little thank you card to match her card for the swap. I love the colors she used and how she put the card together.

The next two cards were unsigned. They were

both georgous so if you know who made them let me know so I can give them credit. I like that they both used similar colors and yet produced such a different look. I love the cuttlebug use and the black and white gingham with the polkadot ribbon.

















I dont know about you but I also like to find great buys. In the Target Dollar section they have some scrapbooking items. I wouldnt use them for scrapbooking , but I would use them for cards and especially for inexpensive stuff your children can use to make cards. I used some of the stuff on the cards I worked on tonight that need tweaking a bit. Here is a picture of what I picked up. The "icons" are self adhesive rhinestones and I got them in the scrapbooking craft area they were 1.99 each. I cut the rhinestone objects apart and use them individually on cards. I wanted some red and yellow and buying them this way is less expensive and the only way I have found bright yellow and red. The binder clips 50 to a package, I found them in the office section for 1.67. I picked them up because its the first time I have seen all silver ones. The rest is from the 1$ section. The ribbon is cute , but it is printed so it needs to be stuck down so that the white background doesn't show, 6 yrds for 1$ though, works for me. It is a satin white ribbon. The brads are thin but they are colorful and cute. The plastic coated pictures of leaves and apples looked like they would be fun for the fall. I took them out of the packaging but I havent worked with them yet. The cork lettering is cute and worked quite nice. they had the clear pebble letters also, but for fall and halloween the cork looked like I needed to try it.

Swaps to Share and Organizing(ugh)

Today I am hoping to organize my craft room again so I can play in it properly. I hope to have a card I made to post this evening. Have a great Labor day!



Here are a few cards from a swap I participated in on SCS it was called "Brand Spankin New" Swap. It required using new stuff in the current SU catalog including the new in colors. There were alot of fabulous cards that I intend to case. The three I chose to share will probably be cased soon


This first one is gorgeous, It made me look at Baroque Motif in a whole new way. The embossing looked fantastic and the white really added a great touch. It was made by Amber Cambell, and it is quite beautiful.



The 2nd card is very nice also. To be honest I havent been to impressed with the new "Pick a Petal" stamp set, but I really like what Amber Hoard did with it on this card. The Black got all washed out in the picture, but the Dark Black with the red and WHite on this card looks great. With all the warm WOrds and other stamp sets you could make this card for many different occassions. It has me debating getting Pick A Petal, a few more cards and I am sure I'll be pushed over the edge.


The last card I wanted to show you from this swap is by Allison Ellibee. I just love the card and the colors it is so cheerful and I need to order some of this SU stuff, the new in colors and the flower punch. I also wanted to say I love Allisons work everytime I swap with her I just love what I get. This was another fun swap by the Stampin Ninja at SCS.
