Simple Christmas treats

I have been working on a lot of things this past month. One was getting a new computer set up and running try as you may.. it just doesn't happen quickly enough.   I also worked on baking and decorations for a Christmas Party at Church. I used something similar for my Daughters wedding reception 2 years ago..because the budget was limited.  I traded the cookies I made at a cookie exchange and got a few treats! One of which I wanted to share because I thought it was so cute...My friend made Chritmas mice! she used marchino cherries stems make the tail, dipped in melted chocolate bark and a hugs with almond slivers for ears so cute...I can think of tons of different looks you could get using white bark and the different flavors of kisses so darling!

I made these candy cane raindeeer for my Son to hand out to his school class and teachers oh and the bus driver!  These are a long time favorite of mine for ease of making and putting together.

Sorry I have rotated and saved it on my computer and I keep getting a sideways view.

The second picture shows how many I made and has them upright...I will fix it later if I can get it to stay upright.

Last of all I finished up a Christmas Card Movie on DVD, decided to share lots of events in pictures this year since so many wonderful thing shave blessed my life, and going throughthe images mad e it easier for me to remeber so I decided to save myself a lot of writting and story telling because after all a picture is worth a thousand words right.

Oh and I also finished my DD's album, but forgot to take pictures before sending it in th email.  I will need to nag her to take some pictures once she gets the images in it.   Since she is expecting now we will see how that goes...if she doesn't get it done I will have to take them in the Summer when I go to help with the baby.

Hi...Gift Jars

yes its been a month. I have been working on Projects ..I finally have one I can post with out to much difficulty. I made decorative jars for gift...and filled them with a fancy rice recipe. I think they turned out cute loving the vinyl on glass this year..thank you Cricut.

I used the Lyrical Letters Cartridge and vinyl from Signwarehouse.com , sorry but...Yes I am too lazy to get the link right now..Just happy to have something to post I will work on the link later..tomorrow

Wall Art for Mary!

My niece slept over this weekend.  While she was here we decided on some features for a Vinyl Wall Quote.  She chose to have some Dragonflies and the quote, "all you need is Faith and Trust and a little bit of Pixie Dust". Her Birthday is was the day her parents picked her up so I told her I would get it made and layed out this week so I could give it to her on Halloween at a family potluck we are having.



It looks a bit odd in the pictures even though the transfer tape is pretty clear it does have a bubbly texture to it.  Her walls are white and she has blue decorations so I used a blue vinyl.
I did the layout in SCAL 2.0.  The font is a free download called, "Courtney Dorkling".  The dragonflies are in a free dingbat file called, "Keroppi". Love that I can cut anything on my Cricut with SCAL.

Cards for a Friend!

I thought I should come a post a set of cards I made for a friend recently. I had regifted a card to a common friend and she loved the saying from the retired SU set Sweet Serendipity. The main problem I had was I didnt own the set. I found one available on ebay but wasnt going to be home at the closing time to bid on it. My dear friend Wendy managed to buy it for me ebay. She sent it to me and I made the cards. A really team effort. I have wondered why I didnt buy the set before I love the sayings on it. The friend who asked me if she could pay me to make a card has lived in many different places over the years and wanted to send one to a friend. I thought she might need more than one so I made her six. I hope you enjoy them, she was so pleased to recieve them.

I am getting a bit lazier in my blogging. As if you couldn't tell, but I have deciede to just list companies in the labels. If you need to know something specific ask..If I get a lot of request maybe I will go back to posting them, but right now it just seems like a lot of extra effort. Right now I am working on some scrapbook items hopefully I will have somethingto show for it soon.

Have a Grape Day!

 A few weekends ago I drove to my Favorite Craft store to meet my friend Robyn (My Pink Stamper) in person. we have chatted over the years on SCS  when she first got her Cricut.  and if you don't know of who I speak you should follow the link to her website on my side bar.   Robyn now carries a line of stamps to go with Cricut Cartridges and so during my trip I picked up the Fruit and Veggie Puns Set to go with the Preserves cart because I know I will get more use of the cart having some great sentiments to go with it. The Have a Grape Day sentiment came from this set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink.


I wanted to participate in SCS's Color Combination last week because I had finally purchased some of the new In Colors from SU this year. The color Combo use three of the new colors.  as I stared at the three colors I couldn't get the name Concord Crush out of my head so I thought I can make grapes.  so thus the inspiration for this card began. the other colors used are Peach Parfait and Pear Pizazz. I began by using my Assorted Leaved Spell binders another goal on my mind since I have had them for weeks I can finally say I have used a Spell binders Die. Loved using them and I will again.  next I punched out several 3/4" circles using my SU Punch.  I then embossed the base piece of Peach using Cuttlebugs D'vine Swirls EF.  I laid the leaves out on the card where I wanted and then eyeballed where the grapes needed to go on the card. I then attached the grapes one at a time starting on the bottom making a set up like bowling pins using glue dots. leaving them abt 1/4 " apart.  I went 4 across and then started bringing them back closer together for a row.  then I placed some covering 1/4 "gaps about 4 or 5 overlapping the others.  I then scattered some apart on 1/16" EK square dimensionals. Then about 3 more on 1/8" Square dimensionals by Zots.   I filled in any open areas with more circles just on glue dots.

I attached  the partial leaf in the center, flat on the Grapes and then one leaf one 1/16th Dimensionals and the last opposite on 1/8" DImensionals.   I cut 3, 1/8th inch strips, at 4 1/4" long of the Pear CS and wrapped them around the piercing tip of my paper piercer.  I added a glue dot to the end of the strip and using the piercer to positioned the curls under the leaves. lastly I cut the ovals for the sentiment and a mat for it using my CM oval cutter.

Plenty O' Wedding/Anniversary Cards

I needed8 Anniversary Cards to get caught up

on all my card making. I can officially say I am all caught up after I address write and send thes cards off. When I get home form my trip It will still be August so i can start working on my Cards for Sept and fall. What a great feeling.

I used, SU:Pirouette Pink, Embassy: Black, GP:white cardstock to make these cards. The black & white pieces pieces were all scraps. Used my Cuttlebug and The victoria folder again...Love it!

I used my SU Lacey Scallop corner punch , and my Lrg.,SM., And Scalloped Oval Punches. to mat and frame the main sentiment and image panels. The Cake is from SU: Fairytale Wedding(retired), and the sentiment from Taggers Dozen. Ink is Je Black StazOn and I colored the cake with my Prismacolors. It feels great to make somany cards the last few weeks and to actually be caught up. I made plenty of Bday cards I forgot to take pictures of...

Winged Anniversary

I started working on Anniversary Cards...I took the wedding Idea I had this weekend and made this Anniversary card. I started out with a card base I had stamped over a year ago and stuck in a drawer because it didnt work for what I was doing. I didnt like it so I sat it aside..to surface today when I was creating. I believe I stamped it with Regal Rose on Apricot Appeal. I used. Certinly Celery, Apricot Appeal, And Melon Mambo Cardstock to make the card.

Love the SU sizzlets butterfly die. They made this project easy.

Wedding Cards

I made some wedding cards this last weekend

using up some of my old stash. The Card bases are from an old paper pack of Nuetral colors I picked up at Michaels..I think By Paper Co. The black is also the matting and trim pieces are all from scraps. I wasnt thinking clearly when I assembled the first card and forgot to stamp or emboss the background. I felt it was still a nice looking card and thought I would let you compare the two cards.

Do you like the embossing pick me up as much as I do ..

Can you see now why I love my embossing folders the way I do. I think the Swiss dots folder just makes everything stand out.

The sentiment is SU: taggers dozen, and the couple image is one I picked up individually at my local Craft store. Its a stampendous stamp from 2000..I just picked it up I was looking for a small image that would fit in a small circle or square punch...I was glad it was still hanging out on the shelf. The white cardstock is GP white embossed with Vicotria CB folder...love that folder esp. on weddig and anniversary things

Still Catching Up

Snowflakes and Pearls challenge

I made this card several weeks ago for a snowflakes and pearls challenge on SCS, but it has taken a month to get it off my camera.

It really was an miracle that it even got a challenge card made. So I think I ill share the story with you. I was trying to get a card made for a friend and thought a lovely flower frame would be nice to have. I was working with my Gypsy and its tiny screan and didnt have my glasses downstairs but was a ffraid if I went looking for them I would never make my way back to my craft space so I diligently laid out my mat withthe colors I wanted and cut my card. when it came out on this mat I had this lovely snowflake theme going on. I was talking on the phone to my friend at the time and said ..sheesh I thought I cut a springy garden frame and now I have stars and snowflakes... SHe said perfect. the challenge today is Snowflakes and Pearls. I set the pieces aside and made the floral frame card I was needing and then came back a few days later made the card and took the picture. Where it miraculously lasted through weeks of the kids taking th ecamera for pictures and fun. Until today where I uploaded to my blog to share.

I love how th ecard turned out and how the pearls look on the snowflakes. I hope you enjoy it also, and I have learned my lesson I now keep a spare pair of reading glasses in my purse, by my computer, bed, reading chair, and CRAFT TABLE!

Cards from a Case

My friend Wendy Weixler made this beautiful card Months ago.

When I saw it I immediately ordered any items I didnt own so I could case the card. I finally found some time last week to play with the stuff and make a few cards. The first card is a circle card I used CM Circle cutter to cut the card stock and the matting.

My next two cards are actually pretty similar to hers, except mine are not square.









I had fun using this stuff and I will definately do this again in th efuture..the cards come out great everytime!

Bunch of Apple Birthday Cards

Finally this week I have been making some cards. I need about 50 cards to be cauaght up by the end of Aug with all the Bdays, Weddings, Anniversary, Thank yous and Etc...

I got really behind when DD got engaged the end of March. End of Last month and this month we went on a family vacation and to the CA wedding Open House for my DD who got married.

When I got home on the 4th I got sick and have been recouperating ever since.

Cricut Layout Tutorial and Recipe Pages

I have been waiting to share this tutorial for awhile now. I made these pages over a month ago and I felt that a mini tutorial might be helpful to show how to get themost use from your Gypsy and your mat. I knew I would be making several copies of these pages so I layout the pages all on one 12x12 mat.

I love how I can take my Gypsy anywhere and work on a design why I am waiting for a kids dental appointment, etc.

I first decided what I was going to cut from assorted carts after placing them on the mat and adjusting my Gypsy looked like this

Following the guides on the side of the mat I trimmed and laid out the paper for the cuts...this picture shows you how the mat looked. it allows me to use a lot of my scrap paper pieces.

Then I attached my Gypsy to my Cricut and cut the mat I had a series of 3 mats loading and cutting so I could cut it out 6 times.

After Cutting the pieces all of the smaller pieces I feed through my Xyron X sticker maker and add adhesive to the backs of all thesmaller pieces....theie were quite a lot of small pieces.

I didnt get a picture of my finished bio page, because at the time I took all the pictures I hadn't finished it yet.

Creating pages for the recipies was pretty simple.

The hardest thing for me to do was write my bio. I sure loved reading everyone elses.

I will take an updated picture of my Bio page and share it soon.

I love my cookbook my friends all did a wonderful job on there pages and I would highly recommend this as a project for any small group of friends. It will really enrich your life and your friendships.

Just a Few Weeks Left

So this last week I worked on Friends wedding invites and Reception and also managed to get the center pieces put together so my daughter could see what they will look like. Thankfully she liked them.

I cut the wording on white vinyl, using Calligraphy collection...The picket fences were done with Everyday Paper Dolls...I layed out a 12x12 mat on my Gypsy and then cut, and applied them I like how they turned out. I am stilla dding paper doilies to the centerpieces I just havent bought or cut them out yet...

This week my youngest daughter wanted to try on my wedding dress. Soon my other daughters tried it on also. The one getting married tried it on holding her Bouquet; My Husband said "why did we pay for a wedding dress, when we own a prefectly good one?"

We were going to send this picture to her fiancee to scare him, he has said he wants to wait and see her e onthe wedding day, but have opted not to do that to him.

Luckily the other invites were photoshopped and were easy enough to whip out in a day or so. Now I need to go finish sewing dresses.

I am hoping to be stamping away soon, after all I need graduation cards.

Hello?! Anybody Out There

I have been pretty much out of touch I have been very very busy!
When I went on my little trip to UT my DD's Boyfriend proposed and they are getting married early in June. So what exactly have I done in the last 5 weeks. I made 400 of these announcements and got them in the mail. The name lable isnt attached in this picture it is actually mounted onthe opposite side of the card, 200 graduations for my other DD's High School Graduation Party, thankfully just Photoshopped. DD designed them I just had to print them and get them in envelops. 125 Graduation announcements to help out a friend whose DD is graduating also the two girls got together and designed it I just spent a day working on it to get it so it would print correctly. 100 Wedding announcements..also using Photoshop for another friends son who is getting married on a very low budget.
Made Flowers for my DD's wedding, with my florist friend who is a real genius. Created a photobook to use as a guest book for my Dd's Graduation. Printed up my other DD's Wedding pictures from Jan and some from DD last Dec. Yes they are gettingmarried quicker than they were born. I also printed up my other DD's Family pictures taken of there sweet new family that includes my little Grandson.
Traveled back out to UT to pick up my DD's from College and bring them home in time to meet my DD and her family that flew in between semsters, so DH, and the rest of the kids) could meet his Grandson. They stayed for a week and DD did all the Cuttlebugging. I have also wedding dress shopped, Bridal Accesorie shopped, and made Bridal shower invites.
I am on a regular roll but with Graduation and a wedding coming in less than 3 weeks( 1 week aoart) I have alot to finish up still.

I have also finished up the Floral center pieces and I am currently cutting vinyl for tiles being used on the tables, and sewing dresses for the sisters to wear...I have a few pictures to share and I will post more when the other projects get finished up...

Sketch Card ThankYou

I am out of town visiting my DD's at College showing my senior around campus and visiting my precious little Grandson...hes so stinking cute..I am just loving seeing him everyday.

I needed one more thanks you card for a friend who brought a fresh green salad over to my house to supplement a dinner this week. It was a real treat and I wanted to thank her for it. I used the SC273 sketch and one of my favorite color combos Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. I think this card came out really nice. I love using Pocket Sillouhettes.. It is so versatile. I used some artichoke colored Jaffray ribbon. andsome MM flower brads from my stash. The double corner punch from Marvy, and also my Cuttlebug with my victoria and Swiss Dots folders. I made a mask using a Post it note and my word windo punch to cover the sentiment before I stamped the bush in Artichoke and Perfect Plum. Hope you like it.

Grateful Dusty Daisies

When I first read the colors for this weeks CC263 I thought Ugh....Dusty Durango, Pretty in Pink, and Creamy Caramel. I shifted the pieces of paper over each other and shuffeling the order, and all I decided was I am going to have to use an awful lot of White!

However when I went to get my supplies I decided I wanted to make shiney little Daisies,and so this card was born.

I used my Cuttlebug "Victoria" to emboss the Durango and a White Gel Pen to enhance the Caramel matting. Using Creamy Caramel for the image base I stamped the daisies from Watercolor Garden in VersaMark and then heat embossed with Ranger White Detail embossing powder. I tried several inks and techniques before I could get the pink centers to pop on the card. First I just stamped Pretty in Pink, then using MS teardrop Pastel Pink, and finally using VersaMark and a pink pastel chalk, which happened to be a little darker than Pretty in Pink, but the only light pink I owned, Did the trick. After finally succeeding I used my DD reinker and some Kleenex folded to stamp some leaves around the Daisies. I used Real Rust to stamp the sentiment to make sure it wasnt blothcy. I really need to order the inkpads. I used my MS branch Punch and my SU: 1-1/4 and 1-3/8" Circle Punches and Scalloped Circle Punches to layer and mout the sentiment.

Wahoo Memories

I always have loved the Line fromt he movie IQ, when tim Robbins ask Meg Ryan..."He Said.." Wahoo"" and later asked "When was the last time you said "Wahoo"."

I used to say "Wahoo" as I rode my pretend Pony around my front yard shooting my very acurate finger six or should I say five shooters all over the countryside. What fun memories. I started to create a card on Monday, but it just wouldn't make itself appear on the paper. All I could manage was cutting out the sillohuette using A Childs Year, and heat embossing it with Ranger Clear Embossing powder.

by Tuesday I managed to comeup with a design I really liked and I chose some objects from the Old West Cartridge and cut them out using my Cricut & Gypsy.

I am so loving the Gypsy and how I can layout the design all at one time and use several cartridges. It has enabled me to use alot of my scraps, because I can place the pieces right where I need them on the mat. I actually love looking through the scrapbox for just the right size and color of paper. I can honestly say on my last few cards all the smaller than 1/4 of piece paper have been scraps from the box. I used the Paisley Backgrounder and Basic Gray Ink to stamp the image on Ridinghood Red( I think) cardstock. I used some scrap Paper Co. Blue from the Basics assortment, and Swiss Dots Embossing folder to make the Bottom of the card base. I loved using the Basic Gray scrap to cut the barb wire pieces and Shadow for the "Wahoo"; More Mustard was chosen for the main Sentiment. After putting the Gray and Mustasrd pieces through my "X" Xyron, I rub it really well and then used a sponge to age the edges and add some depth to all the pieces. After aging I used my piercing tool and traced all the edges and openings to get all the excess adhesive off, and then I applied them to the card.

The Sillohuette I made on Monday was then added to the card using dimensionals. Lastly I added a little piece of tied linen thread to look like a halter. I hope you like it.

Another Thank You

Sorry About the lack of post..I was on such a roll posting regualrly when on the 12th I sprained my ankle really badly...Followed that up with some stomach flu inthe house and finally with me. Ona day I was sort of feeling better I laid this card out on my Gypsy...and then never got back to it until today. Which also happens to be one of my DS's 7th Birthday. This is only neccessary to mention becasue I was not thinking too clearly when assembling the card and heard my older DS who was putting together a Hero Wars Mega Bloks vehicle for the birthday boy was very upset and cryng inth echair behnd me suddenly... can you see how this is going...

Anyway I had to rescue the DS, and help him get the vehicle together which is another story in frustration because of one piece being wrong on a base used only for building...

Funny thing is the Base of my card is causing me frustration also...anyway I hope you enjoy it.

Wedding In White

I needed a card for my nephews wedding coming up at the end of the month. I decided to do todays Splitcoast Sketch Challenge. (SC271)

I intended to do a mostly white card with just a touch of black...But ended up needing a touch of red for Umpf.

I used SU Elegant Bouquet to emboss the top panel and flipped it upside down because I wanted the floral in the lower right corner. I used my new Glaze Pen to highlight the embossing. I really wanted a "knot" for symbolism on the card but didn't want to over power the embossing on the card, so I tried several ribbons and settled on this red Ofray picot one I picked up at Walmart, probably for the latest wedding. The ribbon still covered more than I liked so I used the double circle punch to put 5 sets of holes along the bottom edge for the ribbon to be threaded through the card. After attaching the 6 Mark Richard gemstones to the flowers I realized there was an even number so I embossed one more flower from the same folder and cut it out to make it an odd number. I used the sentiments from SU:Taggers Dozen and Fairytale Wedding, stamped in Jet Black StazOn. I used SU: Real Red to mat and Embassy:Black(walmart) to mat the other peices. I embossed the middle layer with Vicotria, and the base with Swiss Dots, which required a couple of passes and moving of the folder to get the whole card front dotted.

Thoughts In Blue

I had so much fun making a card today for my friend. I used the Splitcoast Stampers Color Combo Challenge for the color theme(CC261)

...Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Melon Mambo. They are very spring like colors.

Since the envelopes Walmart sell now are a bit larger than they used to be I made a 6x4-1/4" card. I also wanted more space to write on. I trimmed paper to 6x11...scored at 2-3/4" & 7". I covered the large flap with Certainly Celery cardstock, and stamped the leaves from SU:Mixed Bouquet on with matching ink.

Next I trimmed the papers for the top flap going down by 1/4 inch for each color. I embossed the Bashful Blue Piece using Quikutz: Diamonds & Dots, A2 Embossing folder. I attached the celery cardstock then attached the ribbon. I matted with Melon Mambo, and as usual GP white is my base. The ribbon came from my friend Diana who sent me that big white ribbon Basket last summer...I matted the sentiment from SU:Sincere Salutations to match the matting on the top flap. I added Mark Richards:Crystal Stickers : Pearls to the dots on the embossing after attaching to the flap. Then I attached the sentiment to the edge using my ATG. To keep the flap from flipping open, I stamped the Daisy from SU: Mixed Bouquet in Bashful Blue and added a Pink Mark Richards: Crystal Sticker Elements for the flower center. lastlyI bent all the petals up and then rolled them down with two creases using my fingers. I also fluffed a bit to get the dimension flatter and looser. I mounted the flowers on Zot 3D Dots, using one dot cut into thirds. I made sure to catch the flap with the petals. My Sons Cards

I have an almost 7year old son. He loves to use scissors and glue, I think because the only time he sees me use the stuff he thinks he has to make cards in order to use my stuff. This week he decided he wanted to make a card for his nephew. After finishing his card he asked me to take a picture, and that is what inspired me to make this post.

He gets to use stuff from the scrapbox box and some prefolded CS that I keep in a drawer and a glue stick and of course the stapler... Of course he decorated the back and front and we do not under any circumstances point out that he did it backwards.

After making the card he brought me something else he made for me....Isnt it the cutest.

Loving my Gypsy

Whenever I have been going Shopping for crafts lately I always go look a the new cricut carts, seeing if they are on sale or discounted a great deal...looking for a bargain so I can have more options to create more neat stuff with my cricut.

I have had a Cricut for several years and for a while there I had 2 the original and the Expression. I recently sold my old original Cricut because I haven't had to haul one upstairs to use with my computer.

The reason my Gypsy...I love it. I have been talking about how I do a LO (layout) and cut with my Gypsy and the last few days I have been working on a project I cant really show you for about 4 weeks.

Because of this ,I thought I would show you the process, or at least parts of it.

I have been working on a Recipe swap for a 6x6 cookbook. Here is a picture of a LO I did a few years ago. I am using the same recipe for this swap but I am changing it up a bit so it will look different. I am also doing 2 other recipies and a Biography page.

One great thing about using the Gypsy or Design Studio to create a project is that you can Lay it all out and move stuff around to make the best use of paper. For this project I used alot of scraps from the scrap box and you know how I love using the stash. Because you can know where each object is to be cut you can place the paper on the correct spot on the mat. Can you believe when I origianly set up this cut I had the blank spot except 2 squares filled with a light green color..I choose not to use it onthe final project so I deleted it from the cut before I cut the other 5 pages out.

I use several mats at a time and for this 5 copy project I used three mats...and after connecting the Gypsy to the Cricut Expression I loaded and cut 5 mats. for each of the 4 pages.

Because I use the Gypsy. I dont need to worry about changing cartridges and it just cuts until its finished.

Why the Cricut is cutting I can remove the pieces and prep them for using on my project. I love the pointed hook form the tool kit and the Spatula for removing pieces with out tearing the paper.

I often use a glue pen like EK fine tip or Quikie because they work well with fine lines and small pieces.

I also reload the mat if neccessary to keep the rotation going.

All my projects created using the Gypsy(or Design Studio) can be saved on it or on my computer for easy access and can be reused in the futire if neccessary. You can even share files with a friends so they can use it. I hope you enjoy the pictures...I am hoping they are worth a thousand words! I am also hoping you find this helpful.
