some sketches

I have been so behind on posting to my blog. I am very busy trying to declutter and lose weight. I guess those are some of the annual goals I have every year that once again I am trying to master. I have decided to not let my Craft Blog run my life and it certaqinly hads made it easier to do. I so enjoy making cards and sharing them. I made these last week and never got around to posting them because life has been so busy. I am going to share them both today. They are both Pink because I was loving Pink early last week and trying to get away from fall colors.

The first I made for a Challenge Card SC157 and a Thank you to my Elf, someone who sent me a great package that I got of fun stuff. It was so sweet of her to do. I used SU set

"Sweet Hello" for this card I love this set , but it can be tricky to put the pieces to gether sometimes. I really like how this card turned out. I used Basic Black, Basic Gray, GP White, and some Light Pink Cardstockfrom a baby Girl pkg I picked up at Michaels. I used SU Basic Black, Basic Gray and Pretty in Pink classic inks for stamping. The stitched ribbon I bought by the yard at a Local Craft store that sells everything. I used "Stylized Flowers" to emboss the pink layer with my Cuttlebug. I also picked up the mini black brads by Queen Co. " KissyFit" at "All That Scraps".

I love Christines store and I tend to buy from her because I get Bug Bucks for my Cuttlebug orders and if I order 10$ shipping is free. I like that I can do a small order every few weeks. It helps keep me on my Budget! You should check her out also...

My second card was made for a Stalker Challenge on SCS and is a B-day card also. I have thesentiment inside I printed on my Computer..."Slitherin' by with a Birthday Hi!"...I used Mosaic and D'vine Swirl to add texture to the card. the rivets are MM in light Pink and I used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the snake, from SU "Zoorific" that I stamped with Timber Brown StazOn. I mounted him on dimensionals. Very simple easy card to make and it looks nice . One reason I really love my Cuttlebug.

I have about a dozen more Birthday cards to make int he next 2 weeks and get in the mail. So I am going to go create something. I also have a swap to do. Thursday I also am posting another Stalker Sketch Challenge. so if you are interested come back to check it out.

SC158 Blossom Birthday Kickstand

I have never tried a kick stand card so I eagerly made one after seeing this weeks sketch challenge on SCS. The site is realy wonky today So I cant get a link to add right now but I will fix that later. Kirsten Dubosque is the creater of the kickstand card and her blog..."confessions of a Naptime Stamper is a favorite of mine to visit. There is a link in my sidebar.


I need a few Birthday cards in the next few days, 6 to be exact so I thought I would start working on them.
I used GP white cardstock for the base and some scrap DP SU petals and paisley for the bottom. I used a slot tool punch to scallop the edge and then reversed the one piece and added to the top of the scalloped strip to make the Bottom section o fthe card and tied a Turquoise grograin ribbon from a microspool I got at Walmart. I used SU Old Olive to Emboss with my Birthday Folder in my Cuttlebug. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do in the center of my scallops I was going to do a cupcake, but opted instead to do pink flowers becasue My friend is so into "PINK". THe image is stamped on Watercolor paper in Basic Grey, and then I used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons from SU to paint them. I matted with a small piece of Barley Banana and a Scalloped Circle in Pretty in Pink. these were all cut out with my Cricut using Minnie Monograms...
The two white brads are from my supplie of Queen Co. "Making Waves" sprinkle brads which are sadly runnning very low. I show two different images of this card because if I stood it up to show the Kickstand you would miss the detail on the back flap. SO I included another to show the kickstand effect of the card. Its a fun layout.

STSC#12

My friend gave me some new MFT stamps. They are so cute the name is How Sweet It Is I really wanted to use this set and I needed to post the STSC layout #12 for the splitcoast stalker challenge, which I have voluteered to do this month. I once again sat down on my computer and slapped shapes on a page. So if you happen to see a card like this that came along before I did that let me know so I can give them credit...since I do visit blogs and galleries something might be inadvertantly in my sub-conscience. So with that all said here is my card for today...

I used SU
"Uptown" Designer Paper for this sketch. I cut one panel and then cut it on the diagonal from the top to the bottom and then mounted it to the White GP cardstoock.
I used the two sides to pull my matting and colors from. I used SU Always Amethyst, Barley Banana, Basic Grey. I stamped the sentiment and image with SU Basic Gray..I love that the color is a bit more muted then the Basic Black and yet it has the same characteristics so you can use it to stamp images you want to water color. I used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a fine tip H2O painter to color the image with my SoftSubtle colors and added a bit of Chocolate chip on the chocolates. The matted image is raised on dimensionals(1/16") twice once on the base of the card and once between the Basic Gray and Barely Banana layer. The triangle is mounted flat on the top of the image and I used a divided 1/8" dimensional to mount the bottom. The Triangle was a square cut at I used my SU Paisley background to stamp the triangle and then stamped the sentiment from the MFT set and Stamped it in Basic Gray. The swiss dot lilac organza ribbon I bought at Walmart and the yellow baby rick rack at a LSS as a by the yard purchase. Get Well STSC09 Challenge

I meant to post this yesterday but I never did. I am having some thoughts of not doing my blog anymore. I wonder if it is taking up too much time. I do enjoy sharing though so If you come sometime and its not here its because I decided my Gallery at SCS is enough for me right now.

On to the card. Amanda had this great sketch on SCS STSC 09. I loved her card and what she did with it so I wanted to give it a try. Then Mel's father had a birthday and Heart surgery with in a few days of each other, he is recovering and doing great but I decided to combine my efforts and do this card. I think it turned out well, but could have been more masculine if I had some small trucks, or tractors or things to go in the oval.

I knew that I wanted to use this ribbon I picked up at a LSS in my area, its a by the yard piece and I think this is the last little bit of it I had. I used Chocolate Chip to stamp Get Well Soon form Sincere Salutations. I decided I wanted to mat just the ends to ad a bit more of the Not Qite Navy. I used my textile embossing folder in my cuttlebug to emboss the textured Chocolate cardstock and that is how I was going to leave the card. It seems my brain completely left out the nice little oval piece when I recalled the sketch.

Once I found their was a small oval to add, I looked through my stamps to find a small picture to fit and I came up with this rose bud from Bothway Blossoms. I used my QuiKuts dies to cut the book plate ovals and then used mini turquoise Queen Co Brads from Making waves to hold the pieces together. I wanted to draw out another color from the ribbon. I am really pleased with how it turned out. the image was stamped with Timber Brown StazOn and I used my Water Color Wonder Crayons to paint the image, I used Taked with Teal and Tempting Turquoise & old Olive which I dabbed off a bit of the extra fluid to make the color muted. Then mounted the oval over the sentiment on Dimensionals.

Another challenge Card: Big Pieces of Thanks

Is everyone like me way behind on everything they like to do because the Holidays happened, and, in need of Thank You's for the same reason?I have been playing double duty all week trying to get things neat around my home and caught up in my craft space. This Thank You card was inspired by the SC155 challenge posted a few weeks ago on Splitcoast. I love the sketch challenges when I am not ver y inspired becasue very often they get my juices flowing and I can work with it. This is a challenge that I found quite difficult despite my love for circles.



I resorted to Big Pieces becasue of its Circular shape. I stamped 3 in versa mark and embossed them with Kaliedescope for the shimmer and 2 in Bordering Blue.

I sponged to get the emboss resist effect around the Embossed Circles...I was worried that the roughness of kaliedescope would not work well, but it did so I was very happy...I dug out my Small pieces and stamped it and matted it SU Basic Gray. The matting was punched with a 3/4 Ek punch and the stamped image was punched with EK 1/2". I mounted on a dimensional, and added a little 2mm Clear Hero Arts Gemstone to the center. I used SU Think Happy Thoughts in Basic Gray also to accent the circle I punched at 1/4" to pop the ribbon through. I cut two pieces of ribbon and attached them1/2" apart to the back of the Basic Gray matting that had been embossed with Bloom Dots in my Cuttlebug.

I matted this piece with a thin border of Bordering Blue, and then with dimensionals on GP white which was also used as the card base. I finished this card earlier but forgot the little panel down lower, so I added the second sentiment from Cute Converse. I cut the layered ovals with my QuiKuts Dies in my Cuttlebug...so happy to not have to squeeze anymore! I used dark teal rivets from I cant remember where but probably MM, to attach the pieces together and then mounted it on dimesionals. I wished I had brads to do this because I ended up slightly off when I made the hole bigger for the rivets. I think it turned out nice and I hope you like it too.

Back On Track

Well are you amazed yet 2 post in 2 days....

I have been taking time to catch up on my challenges and relax. I need it after the hectic holidays.

I had quite a few Challenges on SCS that I wanted to catch up on.(SC156, WT147) The card is relatively simple, mostly Decorative Card stock I picked up at Target in the summer, but I think it looks quite elegant . I dont know if you can see the Paisley flower cut out is mounted on Dimesionals.

I stamped the circle I cut out with My CM circle(sm) cutter and the red blade with Timber Brown StazOn and a "thinking of You" sentiment from SU Sincere Salutations. I used StazOn because the cardstock had a sheen to it. This card was mounted on SU Ruby Red cardstock. I like the colors of this card...I used an Offray Olive Drab Grosgrain I picked up at Wal-mart awhile back to blend in the greens on the paper. the circle is the reverse side of the orange cardstock it is mounted on.

STSC#11

Well My first ever time designing a sketch.

I was asked to do it in January...didint realize it meant 5 Thursdays, but it's okay I have worked ahead so I should be able to keep up with it. I just threw some shapes together in Word until they looked nice. If anyone has done these sketches before let me know and I'll give you/them credit, but I just through them together and didn't look at any galleries...However I do look at a lot of blogs and galleries so if I copied it was not intended.

The sketch and Card are posted in my SCS gallery and in the challenge thread. I am glad to have the opportunity to do this so now I can say I tried something new this year....one thing of the list for the new year.

I used some of my favorite colors together on this card. So Saffron, Perfect Plum, and an Olive/Thyme not sure it was a scrap that has been orphaned from his color family...

I stamped the so Saffron piece with Canvas bakgrnd in SO Saffron to add a little detail. I used Bothway Blossoms, because I love to watercolor them with my Wonder Crayons and aqua painter. I used Mellow Moss, So Saffron, Perfect Plum and Old Olive to color the tulips.

The Tulips were stamped in Timber Brown StazOn. The ones behind the lettering were stamped in StazOn as well but stamped off to lighten the image. Before the words were stamped over. Iused my Cuttlebug to Emboss D'vine swirl for texture on the green.

I wnated one more flourish so I punched out some green in 1/2" circles and adhered them to the So Saffron Piece with Yellow rivets that came with my PC Silent Setter.
