Dad's "Bear"thday Card

Today I made a simple birthday card for my dad..

I got the "Wildlife Reserve" SU stmap set for occasions where I need masculine cards, especially for my Dad.

I used Earth Elements colors for his card. The center birthday sentiment is from "So Many Scallops"... 2 of my 6 sets off "the things to do or use list".

I inked just the sentiment with my Really Rust marker and stamped it on Very Vanilla Card stock. then I punched it out with my 1 1/4 " circle punch and then a circle form Really Rust card stock. this is the only element I mounted on dimensionals.

I stamped the Bear with Stazon Timber Brown, and used my H2o painters and the browns, Old Olive and More Mustard, from the Earth Elements Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the bear. I just kept over laping the colors until I got the colors I wanted. I matted with More Mustard and then added 4 brown matte brads from Creative Impressions. The tree stamp is by Inkadinkado and was stamped on Old Olive using Timber Brown StazOn. The Creamy Caramel base was embossed with Distressed Stripes embossing folder. I used the Ef folder because I felt it looked like tree bark and worked great for this card. maybe I should have sponged it with brown ink, but I didn't want it to be dark. I wanted this card to be length wise, but couldnt do it with this folder, I am hoping they make one going the opposite direction. I suppose I could have done it if I didnt want the nice border and have an extra layer of color. The Birthday Sentiment is meant to look like a sun. I think my dad will like it. I didnt have a lot of time or I would have made a sentiment up Happy "Bear"thday on my computer.

I am so glad I got another card made this week...

Birthday CCRAK challenge

Okay I haven't made any cards for awhile, but I did accomplish something. I managed to get 20K post on SCS. My DH says I need to set some higher goals for myself, so how about a few more post on my blog.

I needed to get a birthday card made for a SCS friend...whose birthday is today...I also wanted to get the sketch SC169 done, because the new one post tonight. I just love the sketches. This is the card I came up with.

I stamped the heart and butterfly form "Merci" on to watercolor paper using SU Basic Gray ink. I then used my SU markers and aqua painters to color the images. I used my new "So Swirly" Jumbo wheel with Mellow Moss on Very vanilla Card stock for the base. After, I embossed the Bravo Burgandy paper with "D'vine Swirl" embossing Folder. I cut a smaller piece of paper in Apricot Appeal and then embossed with "Floral Fantasy". I used my SU signo white gel pen to add dots around the swirls and randomly on the scalloped flowers on both pieces. then matted the Apricot Appeal with Mellow Moss and mounted it on to the Bravo Burgandy layer. I trimmed the two images and then trimmed around the hearts and mounted on Mellow Moss and Perfect Plum Cardstock then added the dots. I search for suitable brads or other accents and finally decided on the smaller heart raised on dimensionals, like the AA & PP pieces. I stamped them on Very Vanilla cardstock and painted them with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and cut them out. I am liking it more today then last night, but I felt last night I got a bit "DOTTY"...

Challenge RAK Card

I made this RAK for a friend's(Markie'sMom) mother...















I used Markie's Mom's Blog Tutorial to color my Humingbird from "Pretty Amazing".

You can read her blog(link in sidebar) to find out about her Mom from this last week. This is the card I made for her.
I used the Mum & Stem from "Pretty Amazing" to stamp multiple times with Pretty in Pink and Mellow Moss to stamp the on the White base.

I then cut and embossed with the Cuttlebug "mosaic" folder all the pink panels from assorted cardstock packages and pierced the Mellow Moss piece and layered it. I stamped Get Well from Sincere Salutations with SU Basic Gray and used MM pink flower brads .

Technique cards

Yesterday I went and made some technique cards at a friends home. It was a fun and relaxing afternoon, and so needed...It has been a crazy two weeks at my house...In fact I made a card last week and actually thought I posted it to my blog but I didn't only to my SCS gallery.

The first card is an Easter Tent Card done with paper pieceing. the bird image was stamped three times two on decorative paper then cut out andonce on Whisper White Cardstock. then the Egg shells were cut out nad mounted over the egg shell and then to the side two show the two halves. I love the decorative paper "Spring Fling" from Stampin Up that we used. I need to get some it seems I think it is much more beautiful IRL then it is in the catty or in these pictures it is beautiful paper. This Set " A Good Egg" is so cute. All items on this card come from the SU catalog. I am only sorry I didnt buy this set so I can make more cards, really quick before Easter...

The second card is one I made for SC167...I dont know if I really care for the LO...though other people have sure made a ton of cute cards from it.I used a couple of my new Cuttlebug folders. Floral Fantasy and Birds and Swirls. I am loving my new folders...I cut the scallop and circle on my Cricut using Mini Monograms and 2 1/2 " setting. I stamped the background with Certainly celery Pretty In Pink, and Only Orange using various stamps from "Polka Dots and Petals"

The Organza ribbon I picked up at Walmart and Roberts a While back.

the last card was made with my Demo. I lov ethe look of it. "Live Your Dreams" was used to to stamp on the Very Vanilla CS. we used the sentiment first in Chocolate Chip, then the flowers in Versamark then Heat embossed with clear embossing powder. We used the In Color "Groovy Guava", to brayer over images. It looks a little streaky when you brayer but when dried the color blends pretty well together. The new Silver Hodge Podge Hardware was used for the silver embellishment, my demo had painted groovy guava reinker in the flower ridges and then used crystal effects to seal it in the groves. Nice to know you can make the hardware blend with any color ink in sucha fun way. This piece was threaded onto the Grosgrain ribbon while we waited for the ink to dry. The next step was to sponge Chocolate Chip on the flower blossoms. the image was mounted on Vary Vanilla cardstock and then the ribbon with embellishment attached then mounted on a Choc Chip base.

These were fun cards to make and I hope you enjoy them. I imagine the two cards my demo showed me might be cased but I dont know where, ...if they are cased let me know so I can give proper credit.

Challenge Cards

I made these two cards this week for some sketch Challenges on SCS, namely SC165 and SC166.

I recently recieved my new Cuttlebug Folders and I had a lot of fun using them for these cards.

For the first one I used Swiss Dots, Allegro, and Diamonds in the Rough(DIR). I wanted to do a Black and White card with a touch of red. I intended to use a large panel of the swiss dots for the entire background and a small panel of Allegro with a large panel for an image, but as I looked at the embossed pieces something else came to mind. and I needed a different background. I decided just to emboss the card front in the cuttlebug using DIR. I think it turned out nice...

the panel of swiss dots needed and accent so I choose a thin white grosgrain ribbon I had on hand, and tied the little bow around it. and layered the Allegro over. To go with the music theme...I had to think a bit and recalled I had a music note in Mini Mates... So I stamped the note in Real Red after stamping off once so I could over stamp in Basic Black the sentiment. I felt the spot was the perfect place to put the stamped images on this card. I like how it turned out.

The second card I uses Swiss Dot & Floral Fantasy, because I thought it went well with the designer paper I used. I have to be honest and say that this DP was a gift from my SIL and I do not know the maker I got it a few years ago, precut... I designed the card around the flowers on it and the colors and made it fit the sketch. I like the bright colors and how the MM tropical brads matched the colors so well. The orange Card stock is from a Roal Brights Card stock pack and is way brighter than I normally use, but works to get rid of some of the colors of paper I have lying around. The pink and olivey green are from a "Botanicals" Paper Co. Assortment I picked up at Michaels. I love SU cardstock, but when I am making Multiple layer cards these lighter weight assortment packs make for a heavy card when you get all the added layers on it. I used Sincere Salutations for the Sentiment, and SU Pixie Pink for the ink. The pink Ric Rak was from a MM Baby Girl Scrapbook Pack I picked up on clearance at Target.

These two cards were fun and quick to make, loved both sketches alot. With the five cards I made this week I managed to use all my new embossing folders...I am sure I will use swiss dots alot. The fifth card I forgot to take a picture of before I sent it in the mail, so when I get a copy of it I'll try to post it if I get a picture of it.

Loads of Love Anniversary Card

I made a card tonight for a friend...

I didnt have any ideas when I went down stairs just looked at colors and decided what I wanted then Decided to use my new Distressed Stripe Embossing Folder on some ruby red.

I looked at it thought the Target Dollar Ribbon would look good on it and didnt know what else to do. Then I remebered my friend Anniversary...And thought how can this become an anniversary card...Loads of Love came into mind and a card was born.

I like the way it turned out and I think my friend will also.

I used some Basic Gray colored paper to accent and GP tan for the base and images, and Ruby Red for the background. I used my Nutral and earth element Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an aqua painter to paint the image. I added a little bit of glitter across the windows with my Sakura Stardust in clear and then the aqua painter to spread it around and add it to the rims and around the sponged edge of the circle sentiment. that worked quite well actually and I will use the technique again.

I stamped using my Ruby Red marker and the words from two differnt stamps in the set to make the inside sentiment"wishing you loads of love". On the inside of the card I added a panel of GP white because the Tan GP was not as thick. It gave the card more stiffness. Taggers Dozen and Basic Gray Ink were used to stamp "Mr& Mrs".

A Card: Purple Doodle Madness

hello, Last night I made a card. I am not too impressed with it. This card got its title becasue I went crazy trying to get it to look like what I had in my mind. I was feeling a lack of creativity, but people say its nice so I guess you'll get to see it...LOL. I wanted to use Sky Blue behind the flower so the punches around the flower in Purple would show up blue...But after looking forever I found I haven't any left....so I used White GP like the cardstock base.

I used various purples from Stampin Up's

BB & SS Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the "Doodle This" large flower. I am going to do some more of these in multi colors but I wasnt feeling it last night. The diamond shaped rhinestones are from a package of body art stick ons I found on clearance. I loved the shape and it went so well with the flower. I added 1 round Hero Arts 3mm to the center. All of the faux dots and stitching are done with my White souffle pen. A bit decieving when you put the ink down becasue it looks like nothing is there and whitens as it dries kind of like a clear egg white cooks and turns white..same principle with this pen. I punched 1/2" and then 3/4 " circle punches to make the circle shapes and used my Cuttlebug paisley die cuts to do the scalloped blue outlines. The white paisleys were cut with my Cricut using the Stretch Your Imagination(SYI) Cartridge. the Purple is embossed with my new Perfectly Paisley CB embossing folder. I am loving the new folders. The light blue rafia was another treat from the bag of goodies...thanks Faith!
