Expecting!

No not me....

Whew! A friend of mine let me know this week she is expecting. I have never made an expecting card before, but this friend is expecting her 9th. Having been there before I think she really deserves a card. So I made this one. I found the clear stamps set in Micheal's Dollar section.

I stamped the image and sentiment in Timber Brown StazOn. I used my Aqua painters and my Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint her. Using Pale and Perfect Plum. I used blush Blossom for skin tones and barely Banana & Close to Cocoa for hair. I used a bit of Regal rose for blush and a tiny Ruby Red for Lipstick. I shadowed her using Sahara Sand. I got the flower brads at Target last week. I used Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, and mellow Moss for cardstock. The Mellow Moss Strip was embossed using the Textile embossing folder. I stamped the Pale plum with the flower from "Big Pieces" using Perfect Plum. I used my Hole punches, 1/8th and 1/16th to punch hole centers for the flowers and the centers on the brads. the rickrack and ribbon are from a local LSS. the sentiment and image are mounted on dimensionals.

Just A Quick Note

Cards for Friends

I need to make a few more cards for friends and family...

these two cards were a little different so I thought I would share them.

First I made for an Anniversary card. I wanted to use black white and Red and it allowed me to use a new stamp set I got for hosting a workshop. I think it turned out great. I used an old Heart stamp and embossed it in clear on Red and then cut it out and added dots. I liked the dots so I added more. the red is from a valentines Paper Co Package I got at Michaels. I also used Basic black, Basic Gray and GP White. I used the heart CB filder because I thought it went well with the sentiment.

I use the Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the image. and the red and white gingham was a spool from Wal-mart.

The second card, I made using paint prints, I stamped the image on White GP card stock using soft subtles, Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Mellow Moss. I then stamped over the images in Versa mark and clear embossed it. After I brayered Chocolate Chip over the top and used a sponge to wipe the embossing clean. I used my Jumbo Wheel of So Swirly to apply Mellow Moss swirls to Very Vanilla cardstock and then matted with bashful blue. After piercing the paper, I added holes for the flower brads in various sizes trying to use colors simalar to what was under the embossing and brayered images. I embossed one flower from the CB Stylized Flowers to get a focal image and then used a pink MM flower brad for the center. I picked up a couple of assorted color packs at Target, 6 colors two sizes of each very cute pastel and earth tone colors, I used the pastel here. I then wrapped some Linen Thread and matted in Mellow Moss. I stamped the Thought Sentiment on very vanilla with Chocolate Chip also and then matted with Mellow Moss also. I really liked how this card turned out and I will definately try this technique again.

Thinking of You, Two!

I decided I need to make two more cards one for Markiesmom and one for her mother. When I went shopping last week I found this cute "Thinking Of You" ClearStamps set at Micheals in the dollar section. I actually found two that had birds and imediately thought of Frances and how she loves birds So I picked them up. This week I chose to use the Owl, I thought he was so cute and spring like sitting on the perch with a flower in his mouth.

I made identical cards in two diffent clors, Pretty in Pink and Pale Plum, I used Timber Brown StazOn to stamp the images and Chocoalte Chip for the "Canvas" background. The white cardstock was done with my "Doodle" jumbo wheel in Mellow Moss. I painted the flowers and images with various colors of Watercolor Wonder Crayons. mostly in Earth Elements and Soft Subtles.

I used Chocolate Chip to matte the images, and mounted them on dimensionals. I used a small rhinestone for the "i" on thinking. I really liked how simple and easy these cards were and how well they turned out. I used my Paper Piercing Mat pack and my piercer on the brown of the Long "doodled" strip.

Hope they enjoy them...Does anyone have any idea who would like the pink or the purple...Hum

A Challenge with A Challenge Card

I decided I needed to use the hummingbirds I made a few weeks ago on another card. I needed another Birthday card so I set out to do just that. I used the Sketch from SC170 on SCS to make the first card, decided it needed more so I put three humming birds on it and worked on two other cards I needed. After I finished the other cards I decided it needed something different. I wished that I could aim one of the hummingbirds into the sentiment, but decided against it.

I decided instead to stamp a few more flowers and move the humming bird slightly. To be honest I am not sure which way I like the card best.

What do you think?

I used "Pretty Amazing" for the hummingbird. and Paint Print for the flowers. Why didnt I use Pretty Amazing, to be honest...I made the base of the card last night and I did not like it so I set it aside. Today when I wentr down to make the card I decided I liked it so I used it for my sketch base. When I was deciding how to emboss the panels. I saw the birds on "Birds and Swirls" and thought the Hummingbirds would go great with it. SO thats my random creative process for tonight. I thought "D'vine Swirl" looked like a breeze and I had been wanting to try the two folders together. The strip of Mellow Moss was cut in half with some fiskars decorative scissors I wanted to define it a bit from the panel with the light pinkgingham Offray ribbon I got at Walmart. I really like how they turned out. I hope you have enjoyed my creative process, I am still debating it.

Dad's "Bear"thday Card

Today I made a simple birthday card for my dad..

I got the "Wildlife Reserve" SU stmap set for occasions where I need masculine cards, especially for my Dad.

I used Earth Elements colors for his card. The center birthday sentiment is from "So Many Scallops"... 2 of my 6 sets off "the things to do or use list".

I inked just the sentiment with my Really Rust marker and stamped it on Very Vanilla Card stock. then I punched it out with my 1 1/4 " circle punch and then a circle form Really Rust card stock. this is the only element I mounted on dimensionals.

I stamped the Bear with Stazon Timber Brown, and used my H2o painters and the browns, Old Olive and More Mustard, from the Earth Elements Watercolor Wonder Crayons to paint the bear. I just kept over laping the colors until I got the colors I wanted. I matted with More Mustard and then added 4 brown matte brads from Creative Impressions. The tree stamp is by Inkadinkado and was stamped on Old Olive using Timber Brown StazOn. The Creamy Caramel base was embossed with Distressed Stripes embossing folder. I used the Ef folder because I felt it looked like tree bark and worked great for this card. maybe I should have sponged it with brown ink, but I didn't want it to be dark. I wanted this card to be length wise, but couldnt do it with this folder, I am hoping they make one going the opposite direction. I suppose I could have done it if I didnt want the nice border and have an extra layer of color. The Birthday Sentiment is meant to look like a sun. I think my dad will like it. I didnt have a lot of time or I would have made a sentiment up Happy "Bear"thday on my computer.

I am so glad I got another card made this week...

Birthday CCRAK challenge

Okay I haven't made any cards for awhile, but I did accomplish something. I managed to get 20K post on SCS. My DH says I need to set some higher goals for myself, so how about a few more post on my blog.

I needed to get a birthday card made for a SCS friend...whose birthday is today...I also wanted to get the sketch SC169 done, because the new one post tonight. I just love the sketches. This is the card I came up with.

I stamped the heart and butterfly form "Merci" on to watercolor paper using SU Basic Gray ink. I then used my SU markers and aqua painters to color the images. I used my new "So Swirly" Jumbo wheel with Mellow Moss on Very vanilla Card stock for the base. After, I embossed the Bravo Burgandy paper with "D'vine Swirl" embossing Folder. I cut a smaller piece of paper in Apricot Appeal and then embossed with "Floral Fantasy". I used my SU signo white gel pen to add dots around the swirls and randomly on the scalloped flowers on both pieces. then matted the Apricot Appeal with Mellow Moss and mounted it on to the Bravo Burgandy layer. I trimmed the two images and then trimmed around the hearts and mounted on Mellow Moss and Perfect Plum Cardstock then added the dots. I search for suitable brads or other accents and finally decided on the smaller heart raised on dimensionals, like the AA & PP pieces. I stamped them on Very Vanilla cardstock and painted them with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and cut them out. I am liking it more today then last night, but I felt last night I got a bit "DOTTY"...
