A few weeks ago I was talking to my girlfriend who has taken my place at the girls camp I did the last few years. I asked her what seh was doing for handouts and she told
me how she wasnt doing any becasue she couldnt make anything as nice as I have done in the past..quite the compliment but it made me a bit sad to think the girls werent getting a special momento from camp. I told her I could make these little 4" square boxes if she coudl come up with some thing to put in them..she got excited t the thought. I thought I would share the boxes and details with you. The theme is Value Round Up...a cowboy theme...the girls have an 8 value thing they work on for Church projects during there teen years. I pulled out my Cricut Paper Dolls Cart and went to town.I picked up some double sided Bohemian Paper that used a "Baja Breeze Ridinghood Red" color. the one side was pretty much a solid blue and the other the Red with Small Blue Polka dots. I cant remeber the title of the paper I picked up at Michaels this week...I trimed the edge and DS emptied the garbage before I remebered to write it down. I stamped the paisley from the Polkadots and Paisleys SU set on the solid blue side and on some"Baja Breeze" squares cut to 6" for the lids of the box. I have posted this box before, but basically score the 6" square about an 1" on each side.. The 12" Dp is scored into 4" squares making 9 squares on a sheet.

I cut out the cowgirls figure and accessories using th efollowing SU colors..Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Night of Navy, Riding hood Red, really Rust , Chocolate Chip. Iused my pastels to dab some pink on the cheeps and some Dark Brown to the Boots and the Hair. I assembeled using tap runner and my Zyron "X". then mounted on the page with my ATG. I then printed the snetiment on a piece of Very Vanilla Card stock and punched it out with my SU scalloped Square Punch. I sponge the sentiment with some Ridinghood Red Ink.
For the outside of the Box I used my George Cartridge and cut the "Star" using the slotted tags feature, on to a Medium Weight coaster using the multicut 4times. I sitll had to use some scissors cause I havent bought a Deep Cut Blade yet!.. I then Sanded and finished the stars by wiping them on my Going Gray ink pad and then dabbing with my Silver Dew Drop...I used just the silver on one and
decided I didnt have that much silver ink.. The gray got absorbed and made the silver ink go further. My friend is picking up rafia to tie the lids on, but I used some Twill so you could get he idea.I cut a Whisper White cardstock piece and matted with Ridinghood Red for Journaling in the center... and 6 other horseshoes at 1 3/4" to use to dress up the page in the other value colors...the colors are blue, orange, green, purple, yellow, gold,..White and Red(used int he matting...these were cut and then ran throught the "X" to make stickers and left on the backing until the girls have puictures t o add and dress up the page... I hope you can see all the other details in the pictures I used scraps to cut the horseshoes ... some previously mentioned SU colors and some less expensive Michaels assort pack colors...Until Later...Happy Stamping!
Kathy, these are wonderful! I am sure the girls will love them. I wish I was one of them only to get one of your boxes..It was so nice of you to take time to make them for their leader. It probably took a lot of pressure off of her as well. You will be blessed for doing this.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable, Kathy!! Way to go. This will be such a treat for the girls. You really did a wonderful job. :)
