Well after posting all of those swap cards yesterday I was ready to make my own card.
I used "Mini Mates" for the sentiment, and Papertrey "Little Lady" for the flower.
This is mainly an Embellishment card. You know how I love the embellishments.
I used my Cuttlebug with my Big Impressions Starter Kit (BISK) to impress the fiskars texture plate on Certainly Celery cardstock. I always mist the card stock with hairspray mixed with a small amount of Ranger's Perfect Pearls, in Interference Blue, before embossing. I have several bottles I use and have found if I pick up trial size hair spray bottles and put about an 1/8-1/4 of a tsp pearl powder in the bottle it is the least expensive way to get small spray bottles. They are refillable, and you can have several colors of pearl spray to add shimmer to any of your cardstock. I like the hair spray because it gives a crisp impression and it dries quickly. Just remember to shake the bottle well before spraying to mix the powder into the hairspray. I was a little surprized at how well the sparkles showed up in the picture. If you click on it to enlarge it you can see the shine really well. I used my Cricut and the Doodlecharms cartridge to cut 3 dragonflies out at 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2", using the same color cardstock used to mat the embossed Certainly Celery. The dark green is similar to always artichoke and came from a value pack of paper called Botanicals from Michaels. The Regal Rose cardstock is Stampin Up, and I used SU's paper piercing Mat Pack to punch the holes around the perimeter. The purple is Lovely Lilac and I used a Marvy Giga Scalloped Oval to punch out two ovals. I then scored the edge and folded and trimmed the two ovals to use on the card. The larger piece I also punched an opening with my SU 1-3/8" circle Punch. I trimmed a piece of White cardstock to stamp the sentiment on to fit behind the scalloped piece and then sponged it with YoYo Yellow Ink, and stamped off the Flower once with Lovely Lilac and then stamped it on the yellowed background. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black. and tied the yellow gingham ribbon around the oval before attaching it to the Certainly Celery piece. I used 3 MM Sherbet Flower Brads to attach the smaller of scalloped oval pieces.
I used my Sakura glue pen to stick the body of the dragon flies to the wings and then added glimmer with "Diamond" Stickles. After they dried,I added little eyes with my black marker, and I bent the wings up and adhered the bodies to the card using Zots Zip Strips. I like the way this card turned out and I hope you like it also.
Until next time ...Happy Stamping!
What a great swap card! Love the doodlecharm dragon flies, too! Great job!
